About Us

Wray Village Institute is a multi purpose building in the middle of the beautiful village of Wray in the Lune Valley. Approximately 15 miles from Lancaster and in the northern most reaches of the Forest of Bowland AONB. The hall is used by local community groups and is available as a venue for private hire.


Our Facilities

Our building has a large main hall with a wooden floor and a full projector, screen and inbuilt sound system. There is a medium sized side room with serving hatch to the main hall. We have a full catering grade kitchen with most required facilities. We have a snooker room with a full size illuminated snooker table an a small meeting room. the building is served with B4RN high speed fibre broadband and has WiFi connectivity. We have ladies and gents toilets and an accessible/inclusive toilet.


History

Wray Institute opened on Monday 24th April 1924. The construction was completely funded by the local villagers. The purpose of the building was to provide facilities for the entertainment and enrichment of the lives of the local community. The building continues to operate to this day with these objects as its focus. It is primarily funded by the voluntary work of local residents holding an annual Scarecrow Festival and it is managed by local volunteers.
